Step 1:

After logging into the Disk Station Manager - a warning prompt will be displayed that a Volume is in degraded mode.

 

Step 2:

  • Proceed to Storage -> Volume
  • Click on Beep Off to disable the warning beeper

Step 3:

  • Click on 'Get Info to learn more about the degraded error of the RAID Volume

Step 4:

  • After clicking on the Disk Tab, identify which disk has experienced a failure. In this example - disk five has failed.
  • To replace the disk, please refer to the Hardware Assembly Guide

Step 5:

  • After replacing the defective disk, proceed back to the Volume Manager and click on the repair button

Step 6:

  • Here, the Volume Repair Wizard has started.
  • Proceed by clicking on the Next Button

Step 7:

  • Proceed by selecting the new replacement disk which was just installed.

Step 8:

  • Acknowledge the standard warning that all data on the selected disk will be lost, as it will be used to repair the volume of the Synology Disk Station

Step 9:

  • The final confirmation settings are displayed.

Step 10:

  • Click on finish to close the wizard, and the Disk Station Manager will start repairing the volume.

Step 11

  • Here is the repair sequence (consistency check) in progress. When the repair is completed, the Volume will return to Normal Status
